Alana Hitchcock leads the Public Affairs Department at 211 LA, which works to increase awareness of 211's services and grow community connections in LA County through outreach, communications, community partnerships and government relations.
Alana brings a wide range of experience in previous positions, including as a founder and Director of Social Impact and Operations for a social enterprise based in Southeast Asia, where she led volunteer teams to partner with local non-profits to provide livelihoods for disadvantaged women and vulnerable populations. Her organization was honored by UN Women in Singapore through Project Inspire for empowering women in Southeast Asia. She also spent 5 years with the State of California working on sustainability policies and grant programs with a focus on sustainable and healthy communities, stakeholder engagement and communications for Caltrans and as an Executive Fellow to the Governor's Office and Air Resources Board.
Alana has her Masters of Public Administration from University of Southern California and BA in International Studies from the University of California, San Diego.
