We are excited for this year’s Providence Holy Cross 5K and Dia de los Muertos Cultural Arts Festival in the City of San Fernando! There is still time to register if you haven’t done so already. This year features new routes for both the individual run and relay race. All age groups and fitness levels are encouraged to join in the fun!

The 2019 Providence Holy Cross Dia de los Muertos 5K Relay, Walk or Run will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at San Fernando Recreation Park, 208 Park Avenue. The event will kick off at 8:00am with the 5K Individual Run, Kids fun Run and the team 5K Relay, Walk or Run. The afternoon culminates with an amazing Dia de los Muertos Cultural Arts Festival that includes entertainment, altar building, art exhibits, vendors and much more.

Every registered 5k participant will receive a goodie bag that includes a 5k t-shirt, race bib, relay baton (teams only) and everyone who crosses the finish line will receive a custom sugar skull medal. Please follow the link for event details and registeration: LINK

The City of West Hollywood Recreation Services Division will host its annual Youth Halloween Carnival, “Halloween on the Green” at a new location, West Hollywood Park. There will be entertainment, game booths and prizes, a Tiny Tot Zone, family pumpkin patch, costume showcase, food and more. Costumes are encouraged and everyone, whether dressed as a rabbit or a flower, a zombie or a superhero — or anything else that can be imagined — is sure to have a fun-filled time in the park.

Limited parking will be available at the five-story West Hollywood Park parking structure, located adjacent to the West Hollywood Library at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. Attendees are encouraged to walk, carpool, or use public transit as an alternative. To encourage citywide participation, Cityline will provide free shuttle service from Plummer Park every 30 minutes beginning at 1:30 p.m. for the duration of the Youth Halloween Carnival. Shuttles will depart from Plummer Park’s South Parking Lot, located at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard.

Join San Gabriel's Community Nights for Dino Day! Fun for the whole family featuring a book swap event, dinosaur crafts, and games.     

For the third consecutive year, the San Gabriel Police Department will be hosting the festivities in the historic Mission District located at 320 South Mission Drive (between Broadway and Santa Anita Street), where the entire community are invited to gather together for an evening of food, music and fun. 

Police, fire and military vehicles and equipment will be on display in addition to various public safety exhibits and demonstrations. There will also be City department informational booths, a live DJ, a bounce house and games for the children, and much more! Members of the US Armed Forces, City leaders, local officials and community group representatives will also be participating in the event. Bring your families, neighbors and friends and join us for a night of fun. 

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood unity and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

FairviewCon, a superhero and comic book themed block party, returns on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 4 to 8 pm or until dark to the San Gabriel Village!

The event will include a costume contests for kids and adults, music, children's activities, and convention style exhibits and vendors including comic book writers, illustrators and artists. Food options will include Hot Dog on a Stick, Spitz, El Pavo Taco Cart, and Ridges Churro Bar. Also, come out and support some local businesses such as Nomads Ice Pops and Nostalgic Books and Comics. Enjoy a margarita served by the San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce or a beer from San Gabriel based brewery, Ogopogo Brewing. Costumes strongly encouraged!

This week's program is our "Games and Tailgate Party". Participants are welcome to wear their favorite sports team gear to the tailgate party. There will be a family water balloon toss (all ages welcome) and jumbo sized games like Connect Four and Jenga!

This event will also include a K-9 unit demonstration.
