The Salute to Families will provide FREE legal services, entertainment, healthcare services, and workshops for the public! Featuring a kids' zone, live DJ, free BBQ, and giveaways, this event offers fun for the family along with supportive services and screenings to help support the health and wellbeing of the community!

Help put kids first in Compton by creating a new place for kids to play with City of Compton and Delta Air Lines! The project is in partnership with KaBOOM!, the national nonprofit dedicated to giving kids the childhood they deserve through great, safe places to play.

Build Day starts off with volunteers arriving at an empty site. Within hours, KaBOOM! leads volunteers to transform the space into a community-inspired, state-of-the-art playground. Come witness the transformation yourself! You can join as a community volunteer for the entire day or stop by to observe throughout the day

 

Join the Recreation and Parks Department during low tide for a beach cleanup! Abalone Cove is a beautiful , natural beach with tide pools, rock formations an abundatn sea life. 

Volunteers will be provided with tools, gloves, water, and a light snack. Please wear closed-toed shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. Involves a 10-15 min. hike down dirt trails to the beach.

Listening and sharing our stories is a great way to learn about each other. Come to the Chinese American Museum for scheduled book readings. Hands-on activities will accompany the story-time readings throughout the day including a Spring tea meditation and art-making session.

Come out to support this annual fundraiser and community favorite event. You'll see local kids and maybe some skateboarding pro's whizzing around the skate park, performing tricks.

Donations and pledges will be accepted and all monies received will benefit the Hermosa View and Valley PTO. Everyone is welcome to Skate and be sure to bring elbow pads, knee pads and a helmet. Free refreshments will be provided and EVERY person who makes a donation will receive a gift.  

 

Armed with a variety of musical instruments Dave Winstone a.k.a. Cap’n Dave takes wild romp through the British Isles and across the sea, meeting a few pirates along the way, featuring Irish and Celtic tunes and well known Sea Shanties. This is a family oriented music event, ages 4+. A musical instrument petting zoo will follow the performance. Admission is free.

Dave sings in 8 languages and plays 9 instruments. He graduated cum laude from Berklee College of Music with a degree in arranging, composition, and guitar studies. He enjoys working with audiences of all ages.

 

Come on down to Point Vicente Interpretive Center and bring the kids to celebrate National Parks Day! Bring beach chairs, a picnic lunch, and dress for outdoor fun! Activities include:

April 22nd is Earth Day, the OCEAN needs YOU. Help us do our part as citizens of planet Earth by cleaning up a small portion of Huntington Beach. The clean up will start off near the pier and walk a short distance to collect as we go. Snacks and refreshments will be provided,  but you can also bring a reusable water bottle or a small lunch for yourselves. Trash bags and gloves will be provided as well.

 

Join in for a day of earth-friendly fun and celebrate the 4th Annual Citywide EARTH DAY LA! LA Sanitation & Environment will again bring their trucks for kids to explore, and will have over 50 educational (and fun!) exhibits for the whole family to learn about sustainability. In the spirit of environmental awareness, we hope that you will consider taking public transportation to the event. You can plan your arrival at www.metro.net.

Food and beverage are free all day in our Food Tent, while supplies last. The Kids Zone has games, activities, and prizes for children as well as an Envirorazzi Photo Op!
