Winter Shelters provide an emergency place for single adults to stay for warmth and safety. Shelters provide a cot and blanket for sleeping purposes. Bathing facilities are provided (the type of facility depends on the specific shelter). A hot meal is provided for dinner and a morning meal or sack lunch are provided in the morning prior to departure time. Case Management and assessment for more permanent housing solutions are also available. Individuals seeking shelter will have to provide some basic information to register with the program and will be provided with a card that will be swiped to track attendance at the shelter program.
Individuals need to leave the shelter at departure time (varies by shelter). If transportation was provided to the shelter, return transportation will be provided to the same pick up location.
Each shelter may have specific rules about line up or personal items allowed. Guests of the shelter should follow the posted rules.
As a reminder, Winter Shelter is only for single adults (men and women). Families should be accommodated through the HFSS program and should not be referred to Winter Shelter in any instance. Here are the flyers of 2019 winter shelters.
