The program provides general health education services to residents of the city of Long Beach. Services include breastfeeding support groups, child development classes, diabetes prevention and management clinics, general health education programs, home glucose monitoring systems, smoking cessation programs, and specialized information and referral to health and social service programs. Geographic restrictions apply.

The Black Infant Health Program provides services for African American women and their infants up to 2 years. The program provides breastfeeding support groups, child development classes, general health education, smoking cessation programs, and specialized information and referral to health and social service programs.

CHDP examinations and support services are provided for children from birth to age 21, from low-income families. The goal of the CHDP program is the early detection and prevention of disease and disabilities in children and youth as well as ongoing health care. The program also provides enrollment assistance for families who qualify for Medi-Cal and Healthy Families health insurance programs.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for an intake appointment. An appointment is required. Requests for presentations or workshops should be made 2 to 4 weeks in advance. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
