Childhood Immunization

Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES - HIGH DESERT REGIONAL HEALTH CENTER

The center provides health services for residents of Los Angeles County. Outpatient community clinics provide non-emergency medical care for adults and limited pediatric services. Services include CHDP examinations, community clinics, immunization clinics and public health awareness. Urgent care is available at the Main campus and South Valley sites. The mobile heath van "Care A Van," operates out of the Antelope Valley Medical Center location, and serves the greater Antelope Valley region. The mobile health van serves contract clinic clients. Geographic restrictions apply for some services.

TB screening is available for children, and adults who need clearance for employment or volunteer work in the high desert area; proof of such need is required. General TB screening for adults is not available.

Immunizations such as Hepatitis A and B; Measles, Mumps and Rubella; Influenza; Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus; Pneumococcal Polysaccharid and Poliovirus, may be available to adults, age 19 and older; however, there is limited availability at DPH and DHS clinic facilities. Call for information about vaccine availability.

CHDP provides regular, preventive health assessments and developmental assessments for children from birth to age 21 who are Medi-Cal eligible and for children from birth through age 18 whose family income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level. The check-ups are offered at set intervals and may include the required Head Start or State Preschool and pre-first grade exams. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in to apply for service. Proof of employment or volunteer needs is required for adult TB screening. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Fees for services vary, based on insurance plan. Medi-Cal, Medicare, ATP (Ability to Pay) and some private insurance programs are accepted.
