Clerical Volunteer Opportunities ( Domestic Violence Issues )

The agency provides volunteer opportunities in Los Angeles County. Services include clerical volunteer opportunities and crime victim/witness support volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.

The agency accepts adults, age 18 and older, to perform clerical and support functions in its Domestic Violence/Temporary Restraining Order Program and Self-Help Program. In the Domestic Violence/TRO Program, volunteers help victims of domestic violence complete temporary restraining orders and other court documents. In the Self-Help Program, volunteers help individuals fill out court forms related to all family and civil law matters.

Volunteers must complete a four hour training class. Volunteer training is provided by the agency, and volunteers do not incur costs related to training. The agency does not complete background checks, however, volunteers must complete a court security form. Volunteers are asked to commit to volunteer one day a week, from 8:30am to 12:30pm for a minimum of three months. LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH Armenian, Cambodian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish and Vietnamese; additional languages available through AT&T language line. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Telephone or walk-in to volunteer. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE The agency does not collect fees from volunteers.
