The organization provides legal services to ensure that the freedoms provided by the Bill of Rights are guaranteed for all individuals. This office covers the counties of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Orange, Kern, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles. Services include constitutional/civil rights groups, printed materials and workshops/symposiums. There are no geographic restrictions for service.

The organization provides legal services for people of all ages to ensure that the freedoms provided by the Bill of Rights are guaranteed for all, including the right to freedom of expression, to due process of law, to privacy, and to equal protection under the law. The organization facilitates litigation which deals with the violation of the rights of individuals or groups, works in Congress and state and local legislatures to pass new laws which protect people's rights, and educates the public through public events and printed materials about civil liberties and specific current issues.

The organization provides brochures, handbooks, books, a newsletter, and other printed materials on the ACLU, on the rights of specific groups of people, and on particular civil rights-related issues. In addition, the organization maintains chapters which involve the public in its work. People may join a chapter, attend meetings and other activities which often include speakers and support the ACLU's work. A Lesbian and Gay Rights Chapter publishes a separate newsletter. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call, write, or visit the agency's website for information or service. Intake forms that are completed online will be responded to through USPS, not through email. The recorded phone message instructs callers on how to proceed with their inquiry or complaint. Walk-ins are not accepted. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for service; donations are accepted. People who want to support the work of the organization become members by paying an annual fee.
