Crime Victim/Witness Counseling

The program provides victims of crime support services to individuals who live in Los Angeles County. Services include general crime victim assistance, certificates/forms assistance, crime victim accompaniment services, crime victim support, crime victim/witness counseling, and crime witness support services. There are no geographic restrictions.

Staff can provide information about the criminal justice system and about the rights of people who have been victimized, and can link people with community resources that may be helpful to them. Staff can also accompany people through the court process and can assist them in filing claims with the State Victim of Crime Compensation Fund. Anyone may apply for services, whether the City Attorney's office is involved with the case or not.

Individuals in the Victim/Witness Assistance Program can get their claim/case number and location by calling the (800) in Sacramento. Individuals must have their social security number to obtain their claim/case number. APPLICATION PROCEDURE People may call for information or referrals to resources or to schedule an appointment. The program staff prefer that people call for an appointment instead of walking in. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
