Dental Care ( Youth, Functional Disabilities )

Provider: UCLA SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY DENTAL CLINICS

The clinic provides dental services for children and adults who live in Los Angeles County. Services include general dental services and training for advanced dental students from the UCLA School of Dentistry. There are no geographic restrictions.

General dental services at the UCLA and Venice locations include adult general dentistry, oral surgery, orthodontics, children's dentistry, endodontics, implants, orofacial pain, periodontics, oral diagnosis, and oral radiology. Emergency dental care is also available by appointment.

Emergency dental care is provided at the UCLA and Venice locations during normal business hours; 24-hour emergency dental care is provided through the UCLA Medical Center, only for previous patients of record. Children, age 12 and over are seen in the Children's Dental Clinic which is housed in the same location as the School of Dentistry, only on a separate floor.

Patients are treated by dental students in a teaching setting; appointments take up to three hours. During the first appointment, patients receive a dental screening and full set of dental X-rays are taken. Acceptance of patients for further care is based on the match between client and student needs; when accepted, patients are assigned to a particular student for treatment. The center serves a maximum of 400 patients per day. Specialized dental care is provided for people whose dental needs match student training needs and for people whose special problems make it difficult for them to obtain dental care. LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH The center prefers that patients who do not speak English bring their own interpreters. However, interpreters may be arranged with advanced notice. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for information about services. Initial appointments can usually be scheduled within one week by calling the appointment numbers above. Following acceptance for treatment, patients usually are assigned to students within 2 weeks. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are fixed fees. The center accepts cash and major credit cards; other private insurance may be accepted.
