Discount Transit Passes ( Low Income )


The agency provides transportation services to low-income households and individuals in Los Angeles County. Service includes discount transit passes. Services are restricted to the Antelope Valley, Central Cities (including Boyle Heights, Chinatown, East Los Angeles and South Los Angeles), North County (including Agoura Hills, Burbank, Calabasas, and Chatsworth), San Fernando Valley, South Bay (Gardena, Harbor City, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance and Watts), Westside (including Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Culver City, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, and Santa Monica).

Discount transit pass service includes the Low Income Fare Subsidy Program (LIFE). The program provides fare subsidy coupons to eligible riders who purchase weekly or monthly transit passes from participating operators. Distribution of taxi coupons and vouchers are also available. This program was formerly known as Rider Relief Transportation Program (RRTP) and Immediate Needs Transportation Program (INTP).

Participating transit systems include Metro, Antelope Valley Transit Authority, Culver City Bus, Long Beach Transit, Montebello Bus lines, Norwalk Transit and Torrance Transit.

Eligible riders must meet HUD low income levels and include regular riders, seniors, disabled, college and vocational students, and K-12 grade students. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in for information or to see if the individual qualifies geographically. ID and Proof of income are required; household income levels must be below the federal HUD Poverty Guidelines. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
