The clinic provides health services for people of all ages in Los Angeles. Services are targeted, but not restricted, to low-income people. Services include blood pressure screening, family planning, general health care services, health education and counseling, pediatric care, primary care, specialty clinics and urgent care. The clinic does not provide emergency care, including stitches, splints or setting of broken bones. There are no geographic restrictions.

Contract clinic services include outpatient health services for uninsured, low-income Los Angeles County residents of all ages, including General Relief recipients. It provides primary general medical care. Applicant's household income must be at or below 134% of federal poverty guidelines, or who are GR recipients.

Family planning services include contraception and pregnancy testing. Health education is provided in the areas of disease and disabilities information, general health issues and smoking prevention. Health problems counseling is also available.

Additional services include general medical care, obstetrics and gynecology, optometry, pap smears, pediatric care, Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) exams, general physical exams, prenatal and perinatal care, STD screening and treatment, smoking cessation and urgent care. The clinic provides a Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) for women who are eligible for Medi-Cal. The program provides nutrition and health education, psychosocial services and basic prenatal and obstetrical care.

CHDP provides regular, preventive health assessments and developmental assessments for children from birth to age 21 who are Medi-Cal eligible and for children from birth through age 18 whose family income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level. The check-ups are offered at set intervals and may include the required Head Start or State Preschool and pre-first grade exams.

Specialty clinics include podiatry; ear, nose and throat; opthalmology; dermatology; gynecology and infertility; and rheumatology. These clinics may be referred to the patient from the clinic once a need is assessed. The clinic operates a pharmacy which dispenses prescribed medication, including birth control pills, for patients.

The clinic provides volunteer opportunities for the general public as well as health professionals, including dentists, physician and nurses.

The Youth Clinic, which is part of the High Risk Youth Program co-sponsored by Children's Hospital of Los Angeles (see separate entry), offers a variety of services for youth ages 12 through 24 in the Los Angeles area. Services include dermatology, teen family planning, health screening and treatment, mental health counseling, pregnancy testing and STD screening and treatment. The clinic's Cradle Project provides prenatal care and psycho-social services for Medi-Cal eligible youth and women. Referrals are provided to the agency's Beverly Blvd. location for dental, and optometry services. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply. Appointments are required. A limited number of clients are seen on a walk-in basis; priority is given to the most severe conditions. Referrals are required for specialty clinic services. Documentation includes ID; proof of income; proof of citizenship, or if undocumented, proof of residence within Los Angeles County. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Fees are on a sliding scale. Medi-Cal and Medicare are accepted.
