Domestic Violence Shelters ( Hearing Loss )

The program provides emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. The shelter accepts all children of any age and gender. The shelter will accept single women but cannot accommodate substance abusers. There are no geographic restrictions.

The maximum length of stay at Hope South (formerly Tamar House) emergency shelter is up to 45 days, case dependent. Supportive services include case management; individual and group counseling for the women and for children; advocacy for government benefits; legal assistance, including TRO assistance and court accompaniment; lifeskills training and education; permanent housing assistance; and parenting education. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call the hotline. During office hours, the agency's administrative office is used as a drop-off point where shelter staff meet women to take them to the shelter. Afterhours arrangements can be made to take clients to the shelter. If the shelter is full, the agency refers to other domestic violence shelters. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for the battered women's shelter.
