The department provides disaster recovery services and disaster preparedness information for people in the City of Los Angeles. Recovery services include inspection and evaluation for structural safety of buildings and soil conditions of sites in accordance with established procedures and guidelines and printed materials about earthquake preparedness. The department will advise individuals or other agencies regarding the condition of buildings and sites. Services are restricted to property within the City of Los Angeles.

Buildings may be posted with colored placards that will identify the level of hazards as follows:

Red - Unsafe, Do Not Enter or Occupy Building

Yellow - Restricted Use, Do Not Enter or Occupy the Section of the Building as Noted on the Placard

Green - Inspected, No Apparent Structural Hazards APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for information. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for emergency inspections within the City of Los Angeles.
