Education Discrimination Assistance ( Gay Men )
Provider: LAMBDA LEGAL DEFENSE AND EDUCATION FUND
The agency provides legal services for gay men, lesbians, transgender individuals, and people with HIV/AIDS. It works in the areas of discrimination based on sexual orientation and HIV status. Services include class action litigation, constitutional/civil rights groups, disability rights groups, education discrimination assistance, employment discrimination assistance, gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender advocacy groups, group advocacy, housing discrimination assistance, and public awareness/education. There are no geographic restrictions.
The program pursues test-case litigation that has potential for setting legal precedent in all areas affecting gay men, lesbians and people with HIV/AIDS. It pursues class action litigation in anti-gay discrimination cases in education, employment, family law, housing, immigration, insurance, law enforcement, public accommodation and other fields.
The program also offers public awareness and education about discrimination affecting gay men, lesbians and people with HIV/AIDS by providing speakers to community groups, the media and schools. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
