Family Counseling
Provider: FAMILY SERVICE OF SANTA MONICA
The agency provides mental health services for individuals of all ages in the Santa Monica area. Services include developmental assessments; early intervention for children age 0 to 5, with developmental disabilities; individual, conjoint, family, and group counseling; adolescent/youth counseling; bereavement, divorce, premarital, and marriage counseling; parent counseling; perinatal/postpartum depression counseling; parenting skills development; internships; organizational training; and an outreach program for pregnant and parenting teens. Geographic restrictions apply for some services.
Early intervention services include outpatient mental health services, infant/early childhood mental health consultations, assertive case management; Dyadic therapy, and parenting education. The agency works with the entire family including parents, guardians and siblings during counseling. Staff are trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP).
In addition to the services offered at the office, staff also provide counseling for children and parents at schools throughout Santa Monica, and consultation for teachers in local schools regarding children who are having emotional problems.
The agency also provides social work and psychology internships for Master's and post-Master's level students. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply; an appointment is required for most services. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Counseling fees are set on a sliding scale that ranges from $45 to $170 per session. Fees for developmental services vary; Medi-Cal is accepted for children age 18 and under only. Other funding sources available for children. Fees for groups vary.
