Federal Income Tax Information ( Older Adults )

Provider: CITY OF MONTEBELLO MUNICIPAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT - PARKS AND RECREATION DIVISION - MONTEBELLO SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER

The department provides services for older adults, age 55 and older, who live in the City of Montebello. Services include certificates/forms assistance for estate planning, rental and home owner assistance, and income tax preparation; legal assistance; recreational/leisure/arts instruction; social clubs/events; and specialized information and referral for community services. There are geographic restrictions for some programs.

The senior citizens center provides a meal for residents that is coordinated through YWCA of San Gabriel Valley Intervale Senior Services (see the separate entry). Numerous clubs for seniors meet at the center. Special interest clubs include a jewelry making club, a sewing circle, a "gad-a-bouts" travel club, and a Latino club. Classes include arts and crafts, cake decorating, cooking, and dancing instruction. Regularly scheduled activities include cards and bingo, dances and movies.

The center also provides legal assistance by appointment for help with elder law issues.

Health screenings include blood pressure screening and periodic mini-clinics.

Center staff can provide specialized information and referral to other community services for seniors. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for information or to apply, or walk in to apply for most activities. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for most services. The cost of the lunch is $2.00 for seniors, age 62 and over. Non-seniors pay $3. Some classes charge materials fees.
