Handyworker Volunteer Opportunities
Provider: PEOPLE ASSISTING THE HOMELESS
The program provides volunteer opportunities for individuals living in Los Angeles County. Services include handyworker volunteer opportunities and mentoring services volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.
Handyworker volunteers assist with shelter maintenance.
Mentoring services volunteers assist agency clients in skill building classes. Skill building classes focus on areas such as cooking, shopping and preparing budgets.
Volunteers, who must be at least 18 years of age, receive a 90 minute orientation. If volunteers are assigned to work with children they must submit to a criminal background check. Volunteers must pay for a TB test, however they are not asked to commit to any set length of service. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call the agency to volunteer. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Volunteers must incur the cost of a TB test.
