The agency provides transportation services to individuals in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, and throughout the state of California. Services include dead animal pickup on the highway, graffiti removal, highway complaints, specialized information and referral, and street/highway traffic control. There are no geographic restrictions.

The department is responsible for planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of the state highway system. It accepts complaints about potholes, surface problems and general highway conditions.

The Public Information Office provides information for the public locally about all aspects of the agency's services in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. The designated general lines also accept reports of debris, graffiti, potholes, dead animals on the highway or other needed work. It does not provide local travel assistance.

The Maintenance Department administers the Adopt-A-Wall and Adopt-A-Highway programs which involve the public in removing graffiti and litter from the state portion of highway walls and shoulders. Both individuals and groups may apply for a permit to maintain specific stretches of highway. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call the Public Information lines for general information or questions.
