Legal Counseling ( Immigration Issues, Homeless Youth )

The agency provides youth services to youth and young adults age 24 and younger who live in Los Angeles County. Services include benefits assistance, emancipation assistance, individual advocacy, guardianship assistance and legal counseling. Assistance is available for issues related to emancipation, developmental services, pregnant and parenting teens and special education advocacy. There are no geographic restrictions.

The Homelessness Prevention Law Project (HPLP) serves homeless families, and at-risk youth who are at high risk of becoming chronically homeless. The Children's Rights Project provides children with legal assistance in civil matters including adoptions and foster care issues, blocked trusts, emancipation, guardianship, government benefits, special education and teen legal issues. Legal counseling on immigration issues is available for abandoned children and youth.

The Guardianship Clinic assists with legal guardianship petitions for adults caring for children. The clinic also assists with petitions for visitation and termination of guardianship. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply; an appointment is required. Guardianship clinic is walk-in only, no appointments. It is not necessary to bring children to the clinic. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
