Outreach Programs ( Hispanic/Latino Community, AIDS/HIV )

The program provides HIV/AIDS services for adolescents and adults in Los Angeles County at five locations. Services are targeted, but not restricted, to the Spanish-speaking community, they include AIDS prevention supplies; AIDS/HIV prevention counseling; case/care management; disease/disability information on AIDS and HIV; gender identity support groups for gays, lesbians and transgendered individuals; health related counseling for HIV/AIDS; health related support groups; HIV testing, social activities; and volunteer opportunities. Free HIV testing is done for people age 14 and older at all locations. Some services are restricted to people who are HIV positive, or who have AIDS, and age and income restrictions apply for some services; some services are targeted to gay and lesbian adolescents. There are no geographic restrictions.

The agency provides AIDS prevention supplies through all its sites. The program coordinates a needle exchange program and provides bleach kits for the prevention of disease among drug abusers.

The program provides case/care management services for people who are HIV positive. Assistance includes advocacy for public benefits, legal assistance, and information and referral for medical and dental resources. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply or for more information. ID, proof of HIV diagnosis, proof of residence and proof of income are required for case management and mental health services. People may walk in for HIV testing. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
