Parent/Child Activity Groups ( At Risk Youth, Arts/Humanities Issues )

The agency provides youth services for at risk youth age 11 to 15 in John Adams, Florence Nightingale, Washington Irving and Oliver Wendell Holmes middle schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District; Whaley middle school in Compton; Dana, Prairie Vista, Will Rogers, and Lennox middle schools in the South Bay; and community based program for students in the USC/South LA/East LA area. Services include acting instruction, dance instruction, music instruction, parent/child activities, theater performances, youth enrichment programs and writing instruction. There are geographic restrictions.

Youth enrichment programs provide after-school arts enrichment programs and community based program to at risk middle school youth in interactive arts workshops with trained artists and alumni mentors at program sites thoughout greater Los Angeles and the center in Venice. The trained artist instructor's work with students in creative writing, art, dance, vocal and improvisational theater exercises.

Inside Out serves youth through workshops led by professionally trained artists and alumni mentors after-school at middle schools throughout Los Angeles County. The curriculum uses theater and arts-based exercises to assist youth to write original plays inspired by issues in their lives. The project culminates with a performance, art show and reception at a professional theater. This is a school referred program. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for information. Students are referred by middle schools that participate in the School Project. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for service.
