The department provides administrative services for the Citywide Recreation and Human Services division of the City of Pasadena. Services include human relations groups, neighborhood revitalization and planning/coordinating/advisory groups. There are geographic restrictions.
The division serves as a planning, coordinating, and advisory group for the human service community and also coordinates recreational activities. The human services unit focuses on issues of child care, youth services, status of women and older adults. The unit also promotes the implementation of city policies such as the Child Care Policy, the Policy on Children, Youth and Families, and the development of strategies to address such studies and the Senior Master Plan.
The Neighborhood Connections builds partnerships among Pasadena residents, neighborhoods and the City, providing tools for resources for planning, development and problem solving which reflect a neighborhood's needs, values and concerns. The human relations commission meets monthly and is an advisory body which provides assistance to private persons and groups in promoting good will and better relations among all people.
