Public Clinics ( Low Income )

The facility provides outpatient health services primarily for low-income people who live in central Los Angeles. Services include public clinics, general medical care, urgent care and women's health services. Case management is available for eligible pregnant women through the Mama's Neighborhood program. Services are targeted, but not restricted, to low-income people. There are no geographic restrictions.

On-site outpatient clinics include Medicine, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Oral Maxillofacial, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, General Surgery and Urology. Over 70 individual clinics provide services including clinics for special populations such as the Pediatric Foster Care Clinic. A Dental Department provides limited emergency service; they provide only tooth extractions. There are no geographic restrictions.

Urgent Care services are provided 7 days per week for non-life threatening medical problems such as colds and fevers, sprains, fractures and other minor injuries.

The medical center participates in the Mama's Neighborhood Strong Start for Families Program for pregnant women who are at high risk for having a preterm birth. Throughout the pregnancy and for up to 10 weeks postpartum, care coordinators help women manage medical appointments and link women with community agencies for additional supportive services. To be eligible, a woman must enroll as a prenatal patient with LA County Department of Health Services (DHS).

Contraception and reproductive health services are provided. Low-income individuals may qualify for services under the State Family PACT program. People whose income is less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level are eligible. Services under Family PACT include a complete physical examination, STD testing and treatment, and contraceptive counseling and services. The Family PACT program serves females from 12 to 55 years. Reproductive health services include colposcopy; prenatal care; mammography; and pap smears.

CHDP provides regular, preventive health assessments and developmental assessments for children from birth to age 21 who are Medi-Cal eligible and for children from birth through age 18 whose family income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level. The check-ups are offered at set intervals and may include the required Head Start or State Preschool and pre-first grade exams.

The geriatric department provides an Elder/Dependent Adult Abuse Response Team program which provides adult protective services for dependent adults age 16 to 64 and seniors age 65 and older. The focus is to stop abuse through early recognition, prevention and treatment. Services are provided in the clinic, community and home. This program is co-sponsored by the Adult Protective Services of L A County Community Senior Services. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in for information or to make an appointment. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Fees are set on a sliding scale. Medi-Cal and private insurance are accepted; the ATP (Ability to Pay) plan is also available. Tattoo removal is $50 per treatment.

There are no fees to participate in the Mama's Neighborhood program.
