MASK GUIDANCE
PRESIDENT BIDEN FREE N95 MASKS
The White House has begun distributing N95 masks from the government's Strategic National Stockpile to local pharmacies and community health centers nationwide. The administration hopes to have the program fully operational by early February 2022. The program will provide a total of 3 masks per person free of charge. Full details of mask sizes and exact delivery dates are not yet available. A list of which pharmacy chains have partnered with the Federal government for this program is available at https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/retail-pharmacy-program/participating-pharmacies.html
LA COUNTY HEALTH OFFICER ORDER
Beginning March 4th, 2022 masking will continue to be strongly recommended, but no longer be required in most indoor settings. At all sites where masking indoors is no longer mandatory, employers will be required to offer, for voluntary use, medical grade masks and respirators to employees working indoors in close contact with other workers and/or customers.
Beginning March 12, 2022, masks will continue to the strongly recommended, but will not be required in K-12 Schools or childcare facilities. School districts in LA County can continue to require masking at schools and during school activities, along with other appropriate safety protections, for their school community. Check with your local school or school district for details.
Masking will continue to be required for all persons, regardless of vaccination status in higher transmission risk settings including:
- Public transit and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
- All healthcare settings
- Correctional facilities and detention centers
- Emergency shelters
- Cooling and heating centers
- Homeless shelters
- Long term care settings
- Adult and senior care centers
Masking is also still required for those who exit isolation or quarantine early through day 10 of their isolation or quarantine period. As a reminder, regardless of the community risk level, people can wear a mask based on their personal preference, comfort level, and informed by their personal level of risk.
You can always choose to wear a mask if you want to, regardless of your vaccination status. And you cannot be turned away from a business or activity for wearing one.
