The agency provides public housing services for people who live in the County of Los Angeles.

Services include subsidized housing opportunities for low-income families, for people who have disabilities and for older adults. It manages and maintains public housing units; and it also assists people to live in privately owned rentals through rent subsidies under the Section 8 program.

The agency also administers the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Program which provides rental assistance to homeless veterans and their families in combination with case management and clinical services through the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) of Greater Los Angeles. Interested veterans are encouraged to contact the program at (310) 478-3711. The VASH program is for homeless veterans only. APPLICATION PROCEDURE The waiting lists for section 8 and project based public housing are currently closed.

People may check the status of their application online at www.hacola.org.

Landlords who would like to accept Section 8 Housing should register their property on the web-based Los Angeles County Housing Resource Center at http://housing.lacounty.gov .

Call the general number and follow the prompts to report fraud. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for application or waiting list. Depending on eligibility, units do require monthly rent.
