The program provides recreational programs for people of all ages in the East Los Angeles area. Services include day camp, physical fitness, parent/infant swimming instruction, recreational activities/sports, swimming facilities, weight management for children, residential camps and Y facilities. There are no geographic restrictions.

The program provides various recreational and instructional activities. Membership to the facility is required for participation in many of the activities. Members can use the swimming facility which offers swim lessons, lap swimming, parent/child swim classes, water exercise classes and recreational swimming. The fitness area includes cardio machines and weight machines. There are also various fitness classes that are offered and may include aerobics; ballet for children, age 2 to 10; kickboxing; karate and tae kwondo.

The program also offers a summer day camp that runs from June through August of each year. The summer day camp includes biking, hiking, horseback riding, rock-climbing and other activities. A week-long residential camp is also available during the summer.

Other programs provided at the YMCA include youth institute; early learning readiness; youth and government; brothers, sons, selves; and parent support circles. Youth Institute is a year-round program that uses technology to promote youth development and to provide a pathway to college and career readiness. It trains middle and high school students in digital media skills including graphic design, movie-making and music-mixing in a computer lab setting.

Early Learning Readiness is for toddlers, babies and their caregivers. It provides an environment for children to play, learn and develop physical, verbal and social skills to start school ready to succeed.

Youth and Government is a statewide mock legislature and court program for high school students to research, study California government and to become involved in various local service-learning projects in their community. Teen delegates attend statewide training conferences, write and lobby for their submitted bills and run for various elected offices to represent their community.

The YMCA is a partner in the program Brothers, Sons, Selves. It provides training and development in young men and boys of color to be agents of change for their communities. Youth leaders participate in monitoring and developing policies that disproportionately affect the disenfranchisement of minorities in the public school system.

The Parent Support Circles provide parent peer support groups to parents in the First Supervisorial District of Los Angeles County. The groups provide parents with support in areas such as nutrition, special needs and nurturing babies. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in for more information or to apply. Call or apply online for residential camp. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Membership is required for participation in most activities. Membership fees vary according to age and type of membership desired. There are fixed fees for most activities; in some instances, non-members may participate by paying additional fees.

There is a weekly fixed fee for the summer day camp. There are fixed fees for residential camp; financial aid may be available for those who qualify.
