The agency provides foster care services for foster children and former foster youth age 23 and younger in Los Angeles County by helping to ease the transition from foster care to emancipation. Services include career counseling, college/university entrance support, employment preparation, issue advocacy, job readiness, job search techniques, resume preparation assistance, scholarships, and supervised living assistance for older youth. Age restrictions apply; there are no geographic restrictions.

Pathways is an 18-month program which offers transitional housing and many supportive services for emancipated youth ages 18 to 23. Participants are required to maintain employment and develop money management skills.

A college readiness program follows students through home and school placement changes over a six year period and offers academic preparation, tutoring, college tours, workshops and one-on-one relationships to help youth prepare to graduate from high school and attend college. A comprehensive career program is available for youth transitioning from foster care to independence. Services include aptitude testing, pre-employment training workshops, resume and interview preparation, job search assistance, and referrals for vocational training.

The College Sponsorship Program offers a $15,000 five-year financial commitment to between 30 and 45 Los Angeles County graduating seniors and up to five transfer students each year. Students can access $3,000 per year for up to five years and are able to use financial support to fund their greatest needs which include: rent, books, tuition, supplies, food, transportation, and travel to and from school or other personal needs.

In addition, the agency supports select foster homes by providing financial assistance for tutoring services and professional counseling; and organizing recreational activities including cultural field trips, holiday celebrations, and birthday parties. To be eligible, the youth must be registered as a foster child (or former foster child) with DCFS. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
