Runaway/Homeless Youth Helplines ( Families With Adolescents )


The agency provides youth services to youth, ages 12 through 24, in Los Angeles County and throughout the state of California. Service include runaway/homeless youth counseling, runaway/homeless youth hotlines, specialized information and referral, and telephone crisis intervention. Services are targeted to runaway youth. There are no geographic restrictions.

The hotline provides telephone crisis counseling for the young person on any issue affecting youth and their families; information and referral for a wide variety of services including food, shelter, medical care, and transportation; conference calls between the young person and parents; phone support for worried parents and information about how to locate a runaway; and a neutral message/relay center which conveys messages from youth to their parents in all areas of the United States and accepts messages from parents to relay to young people if they call in. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for service. Crisis counselors are also available through chat and text. Callers can text the 800 number to be connected to a counselor via text. Counselors are also available online on the website online via instant message. The hours for text and chat are Sunday through Saturday, 8:30am to 12:00am. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for service.
