Runaway/Homeless Youth Helplines

Provider: CASA YOUTH SHELTER

The agency provides runaway services for youth age 12 to 17 and their families who are in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Services include a runaway/homeless youth hotlines, public awareness/education and parenting skills classes. There are no geographic restrictions.

The hotline provides information about resources available to runaway youth and intake assessment for the agency's emergency shelter.

Staff are available to talk with community groups about the problems runaway youth encounter. Seminars are also offered periodically for young people and their parents. Counseling is available for individual teens and adults, parents, and families who want support during the COVID-19 crisis. Sessions for residents and their families, nonresidents, and aftercare clients are provided via Zoom.

A 12-week parenting skills class is available to shelter participants and to parents of teens in the community. Classes focus on self-esteem building, problem solving, and family reunification. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for service or for information. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for runaway services. Parenting skills classes are free of charge during this time.
