Soup Kitchens ( AIDS/HIV )

The program provides emergency food for low-income people with HIV or AIDS living in the South Bay area (SPA 8). Services include ongoing emergency food assistance, food vouchers and a meal. Service is restricted to SPA 8 residents.

The emergency food program provides groceries such as fruit, vegetables, juices, soup, canned tuna, pasta and grains. Groceries usually last one to four weeks. Powdered milk and diapers may be available, depending on donations. The amount of food varies with the size of the family. People can apply for food once per month. The program can accommodate special diets such as vegetarian, high protein, low salt or low fat.

A hot meal is served once per week. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply; a referral from 211 LA is required. No walk-in's are accepted. ID, proof of residence, income, and HIV/AIDS diagnosis are required. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
