The department provides substance abuse services for the state of California. Services include policy and program development, substance abuse education and technical assistance for service providers. There are no geographic restrictions.

The department is responsible for planning and coordinating substance abuse services throughout California. It also allocates community development block grants to substance abuse programs. It provides technical assistance and support to grantees and other service providers in the field. It collects data about treatment programs and statistics about the incidence of substance in the state.

The Resource Center provides substance abuse education and prevention, including drinking driver prevention, through various public education campaigns. It operates a resource center which provides specialized information and referral on substance abuse issues. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call, write or the visit online for information.
