Temporary Financial Assistance ( Families of Active Military Personnel )

Provider: ARMY EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND

The agency provides services for active and retired military personnel and their dependents in the United States and her territories. Services include undesignated temporary financial assistance. There are no geographic restrictions.

Relief is provided in the form of grants, no-interest loans, or a combination of both. Relief is available for the following uses: food/rent/utilities, emergency transportation and vehicle repair, funeral expenses, medical/dental exams, personal need when pay is delayed or stolen, and for scholarships for children of soldiers. All requests for aid must be approved. Aid is usually available same day or within a few days, depending on need. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Application forms can be downloaded from the agency website, or individuals may call to apply or apply in person at any AEF Section. Sections are located on army installations worldwide, a list is available on the agency website. Military ID Card, Leave and Earnings Statement, Leave/PCS orders, and substantiating documents such as car repair estimate, rental agreement, or utility bills are required. Applicants may be referred to the Air Force Aid Relief Society or the American Red Cross. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for service.
