Transitional Housing/Shelter ( Single Mothers )

The program provides transitional housing/shelter for single women, single mothers or pregnant women ages 18 years and older. The program will accept women without children, women who have one child under the age of 8, or are pregnant with their first child. The maximum length of stay is two years. There are no geographic restrictions, but income guidelines apply.

The facility includes 60 unfurnished single room units, individual bathrooms, a community kitchen, a learning resource center, laundry rooms and a play area. Supportive services include resources coordination, workshops in parenting, financial literacy, problem solving, team work, negotiation skills, creative skills, leadership development, self-esteem and anger and stress management. Services are targeted towards helping women become self-sufficient.

Mothers are expected to take active responsibility for themselves and their children; work towards completing their career, personal and professional goals.

The agency does not provide meals or day care, but will assist in connecting women with these services. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Walk in to apply. Picture ID or driver's license; birth certificates for adult and child; social security cards; and proof of income, such as pay stubs, proof of public assistance, 401K or any statement of income for the last three months are required for parent and child; proof of pregnancy is required for expectant mothers. Sometimes there is a waiting list for services. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There is a fixed fee of $500 per month for rent; and a $500 security fee.
