Transitional Housing/Shelter ( Families With Children )

The program provides Christian-oriented housing services and rapid rehousing for two-parent families with children and single men and women with children and single women with children fleeing domestic violence. This program does not provide emergency housing. Services include transitional housing/shelter. Children of all ages are accepted; pregnant women cannot be accepted. Adults must be highly-motivated to improve their situation to become self-sufficient through finding a job within two months of entering the program. There are no geographic restrictions.

The Pasadena location is a converted house and separate apartment units that can accommodate 8 families. It accepts couples with children and single mothers or fathers with children.

The undisclosed location accepts single women with children only and is geared toward servicing families fleeing domestic violence.

The program provides bedding and linen, three meals per day, access to shower and laundry facilities, personal grooming items and basic necessities. Residents are required to assist with assigned chores on a daily basis and observe curfew and wake-up times. The use of alcohol, drugs, and smoking are prohibited.

Residents must participate in all aspects of the program, including, but not limited to counseling, case management, and weekly life skills classes. Residents are required to actively seek employment (full-time or equivalent).

Special programs and facilities are available for children to help with homework and play activities. The program also assists residents with their job search and education as well as their search for housing. Counseling, parenting classes, anger management and financial counseling are included in the program. Residents are required to save a majority of their income while in the program. APPLICATION PROCEDURE A referral from a Family Solutions Center (FSC) site is required for all sites.

When space is available, case managers call applicants for an initial phone interview, followed by a face-to-face interview. The process can take up to two weeks; ID and marriage license are required at the time of the interview. A police background check and health screening are performed prior to admission into the program. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
