The district administers comprehensive public education programs for people who live in Avalon, Lakewood, Long Beach and Signal Hill through 11 K-8 schools, 48 K-5 elementary schools, one Outdoor Education school, 15 middle schools, 10 senior high schools, one continuation school, the School For Adults, child development programs including a state preschool program for preschool children, and a Head Start program. It also administers a Regional Occupational Program (ROP) for adults and older teens. The district offers a full range of special education programs for students who have special needs and provides customary support services in the areas of health and mental health.

The continuation high school can accommodate pregnant or parenting teens in 11th or 12th grade. This is a full-time program and the campus does not provide child care.

The district also provides family literacy programs for families in the Long Beach Unified School District. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call the administrative office for information about district programs and schools. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are fixed fees for some services; most are free; call for information.
