The department provides disaster services to help homeowners and businesses prepare against floods. When flood warnings have been issued, the department provides sand bags to protect property from flood damage; the bags are empty and must be filled by property owners.

The department's fire services include fire control and suppression, rescue, a hazardous materials unit, and fire safety. It inspects buildings and property for compliance with fire codes to reduce or eliminate fire hazards. The department enforces related laws, provides fire safety education programs and inspects for fire hazard abatement. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call 9-1-1 to report a fire or other emergency. Go to fire stations for sand bags when flood warnings have been issued. Call the administrative office to request disaster preparedness or fire safety education materials or presentations. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
