Youth Literacy Programs

The library maintains a collection of books, magazines, audio books, DVD's, music CD's, electronic downloadable books, and online services and databases to residents of Monrovia, as well as residents of Los Angeles County. Services include adult literacy programs, library services, job search resource centers, public internet access sites and youth literacy programs. There are no geographic restrictions.

The library provides standard, free library services including book loan, telephone reference information and research assistance; and a book delivery service for people who are unable to leave their homes.

The library offers weekly storytimes for children and their caregivers, for toddlers to children age 5. It also offers quarterly book clubs for children in elementary school and a summer reading club for children of all ages.

Monthly programs include a family movie night, career and business workshops and science programs.

The library's adult literacy program matches an adult learner with a volunteer tutor to meet once a week for a minimum of 1 year.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in for assistance; call or walk in to apply for the adult literacy program. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for service.
